Overview of our fishing services
Fishing services for drilling operations involve retrieving stuck, broken, or dropped tools and equipment from a wellbore. These interventions are critical to maintaining safety, continuing operations, and protecting the integrity of the well—whether during active drilling, workover (WO) maintenance, or plug and abandonment (P&A) campaigns.
Enedril supports these situations with a complete range of technical fishing tools, field-proven procedures, and rapid mobilization capabilities.
Where we intervene
We operate in three key phases of a well’s lifecycle:
1. Active Drilling
Retrieval of stuck or dropped tools during well construction.
Operations at high depth, often in deviated or complex wells.
2. Workover (WO)
Fishing during interventions on existing wells.
Recovery of corroded components, pipe segments, or debris before re-completion.
3. Plug and Abandonment (P&A)
Fishing to remove residual hardware before section milling or cementing.
Often requires customized approaches to access or cut tubing/casing.
Fishing equipment we deploy
Enedril maintains over 1,800 pieces of fishing and downhole equipment, available for rental or purchase.
Mechanical Recovery
Overshot – external engagement for smooth tools.
Spear – internal engagement for tubulars.
Grapple / Hook / String Magnet – specific solutions for irregular shapes or small debris.
Impact and Jarring Tools
Fishing Jar – mechanical shocks to free stuck equipment.
Jar Intensifier / Bumper Sub – enhances or dampens impact, depending on conditions.
Milling Tools
Junk Mill / Taper Mill / WOS – grind and clear metallic debris or broken tools.
Pilot Mill – precise milling around tubulars or obstructions.
Cutting Tools
Hydraulic Pipe Cutter – clean pipe sectioning.
Section Mill – remove casing for abandonment operations.
Hole Enlargement & Reaming
RTU / DTU, Roller Reamers, Hole Openers – for enlarging the wellbore or preparing a path for retrieval.
Cleaning and Finishing Tools
Casing Scraper, Reverse Circulation, Junk Basket – ensure a clean and accessible borehole.
Technical infrastructure & capabilities
All fishing operations are backed by our in-house mechanical facilities and engineering support:
Two workshops >1,000 m² each, fully equipped (jar testers, break-out units, lathes, welding, etc.),
Outdoor yard of 3,500 m² for inventory, logistics, and tool prep,
Collaboration with an API 5 & 7 certified machining partner for custom tool fabrication,
Qualified staff with field experience in geothermal, oil & gas, and underground storage sectors.
Our approach to downhole interventions
Every operation begins with:
Reviewing the context and fish profile,
Selecting the proper retrieval method,
Preparing the tools (standard or custom-made),
Supporting the client on-site or remotely.
We prioritize clarity, safety, and efficiency, avoiding unnecessary complexity.
Field track record
57,200 meters drilled,
136 fishing, workover & P&A operations,
We operate across France and internationally, in both onshore and offshore environments, under standard and high-temperature conditions.
Availability & Contact
Fishing tools and services are available on-demand, whether for rental, purchase, or full-service intervention.
